Thunderf00t is a detestable, underhanded cad for "hacking" into an email server he didn't have permission to access, but PZ is a hero for "hacking" into a phone conference with a code he didn't have permission to use. Makes perfect sense.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6723372218803084806.post-5134559062351310322012-08-10T20:33:12.234-05:002012-08-10T20:33:12.234-05:00Oh, and one more thing: Thunderf00t was threateni...Oh, and one more thing: Thunderf00t was threatening to expose Natalie Reed as a liar by revealing the relevant content of emails in which she had discussed the matter in question. He was not threatening to reveal emails in which she'd discussed her personal life, etc.

Are people really confused on this issue, or are they intentionally framing it as a threatened attack on Natalie Reed because they're upset with Thunderf00t? It's hard to believe so many smart people would truly be confused.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6723372218803084806.post-53312290161884419202012-08-10T20:28:33.939-05:002012-08-10T20:28:33.939-05:00I am not condoning anything "Thunderf00t"...I am not condoning anything "Thunderf00t" has done, but things are being blown way out of proportion.

At no time did he threaten to expose anybody's identity. He said he removed all headers and other identifying information when sharing emails. He told Natalie Reed he was going to expose that she was a liar by revealing the contents of her messages, not her real name or email address.

Thunderf00t was on FtB as a member, so it is misleading to suggest acquired personal information by "hacking" into the mailing list and reading the mails on it. He already had most or all of this information from his time as a member, so why was it not a concern until now?

PZ Myers previously revealed contents of Thunderf00t's emails when making his case for why Thunderf00t was kicked off. Was this OK? Are people worried about PZ Myers revealing real-life identities?

I think it was unethical for Thunderf00t to rejoin the list, but it probably wasn't illegal. He simply reused the invitation to join that they'd sent previously. They let him in, this was logged, and he was probably on a list of active users. They had to ability to know there and the ability to remove him at any time. This probably wouldn't stand up in court as hacking.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
